Östergarnslandet
Rocks, reeds and open sea along the Östergarnslandet coastline.
Östergarnslandet is the part of Gotland I've come to know through my wife, who's from here — and over the years it's become a place where I feel just as at home as in the mountains. It takes in Östergarn, Gammelgarn, Herrvik, Sysne and the quiet shores around Katthammarsvik, and the light here is nothing like the mountains — open, reflective, often mirror-still at dawn. Most of these images were taken before sunrise, in the few minutes when sky and sea seem to merge over the limestone coast. They're mornings that reward patience — you're up long before the sun to catch a window that barely lasts. A lot of people with a summer house in the area have chosen one of these images for their walls — a Baltic sunrise sits well in a bright, high-ceilinged room, and works just as well as a reminder of summer in the middle of winter. Every image here can be ordered as a framed print, canvas or poster via Printler, as a metal poster via Displate, or downloaded directly in high resolution from its own page.
