Sunrise Over Tranquil Waters, Östergarnslandet, Gotland
This photo was taken on an early summer morning on Östergarnslandet, on the east coast of Gotland, just after sunrise. At this time of year that already happens around four, while the light is still soft and most people are still asleep. The long exposure captures that same stillness, smoothing the water into a calm surface.
I took this photo on a beach on the north side of Östergarnslandet, just west of Katthammarsvik – one of the places I keep returning to, usually early on summer mornings, before anyone else is awake. The print comes in several sizes and works equally well in a bedroom, an office, or a hallway – anywhere you want a quiet spot for the eye to rest.
